Consistent Bass and Catfish Bites in New Hill, NC
Shearon Lake - Wake, NC
The summer pattern is in full swing here on Shearon Harris Lake. As water temperatures continue to climb into the upper 70s and low 80s, we are seeing steady activity across our target species. Whether you are a local angler or visiting for family fishing trips Raleigh NC, the conditions are right for a highly productive day on the water.
Largemouth Bass The bass have officially moved into their typical summer holding areas. We are finding good numbers of fish grouped up around offshore brush piles, roadbeds, and drop-offs in 12 to 18 feet of water. The early morning bite remains strong using crankbaits and topwater lures. Once the sun gets high during our afternoon fishing trips, switching to a slower, bottom-bumping presentation with soft plastics and heavy tackle has been the key to getting consistent bites.
Crappie Crappie are schooling up tight near deep timber and bridge pilings. Using light tackle and live minnows on slip bobbers is keeping the rods bending. While spring is known as prime time, our targeted summer crappie fishing Shearon Harris Lake trips are still putting plenty of fish in the cooler.
Catfish If you are looking for an engaging fight, the catfish bite is excellent right now. Our afternoon and evening catfish fishing guide NC trips are producing great results. We are targeting channel swings and deep flats. Fresh cut bait fished on the bottom is bringing in healthy numbers of channel and blue cats, making it a perfect target for kids and beginner anglers.
White Perch White perch are highly active and feeding aggressively. We are locating large schools using the onboard fishfinder and vertically dropping small jigs or live bait. This is a fantastic, fast-paced option for our light tackle enthusiasts and keeps everyone on the boat busy.
Captain's Advice For those booking a morning half day fishing trip NC, plan to be at the Crosspoint Road meeting spot right on time at 6:30 AM to capitalize on the early bite before the heat of the day sets in. Ensure you bring your valid North Carolina fishing license, sunglasses, and plenty of water to keep in the onboard ice box. The 21-foot Riddic Bay is gassed up, the live bait well is full, and we are ready for another great week of fishing.
